North Eastern Beefalo Association
The organization was first established in the 1980's by David Hume and 14 local farmers who where situated in the New England states. The group began as the "New England Beefalo Association" with the purpose of communicating the benefits of raising Beefalo to other local farms. Eventually the group grew to host farmers and members in most of the Northeastern United States including; New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Canada.
In 1995 the group decided to reregister under a new name; "North Eastern Beefalo Association", to better represent the new threshold of registered members and their farms. The North Eastern Beefalo Association continues as a nonprofit independent entity who meets with it's members annually. The group maintains it's compliance with the rules of registration for raising Beefalo set forth by the American Beefalo Association. Members enjoy seasonal email newsletters where they can place advertisements about their Beefalo and hear about the Beefalo ventures of the other members. The North Eastern Beefalo Association members can also place advertisements on the groups website, as well as stay up to date and educated about all things Beefalo under the "News" page.
Today the North Eastern Beefalo Association's focus continues to be the education of the breed, it's positive characteristics and the potential outcome of raising Beefalo to the general public, in order to create more awareness and demand for this unique breed of hybrid bovine cattle. As communications facilitator for Beefalo in the Northeast, the North Eastern Beefalo Association has used the following marketing outlets; local & regional fairs, Field Days and Open Houses in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
